Athena Gerochristodoulou
International Accreditation Leader
Athena joined the team of International Accreditation Leaders with the NEASC Commission on International Education in 2018. Her work focuses on supporting international schools through the ACE Learning pathways through developing protocols and processes, conducting training and workshops, and consulting with schools, but she also serves as the main liaison and resource for schools in Spain.
Athena moved into international school education in Europe in 1998. She has held senior leadership positions at international schools since 2010. Prior to her current position, she served for five years as a peer visitor on NEASC Accreditation teams in Europe, the Middle East, and Central America, and has carried out more than 80 school visits on behalf of NEASC.
Athena holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of Toronto and a master’s degree in Education in International Education Administration from Endicott College in Massachusetts, USA. Athena is a native of Toronto, Canada and is currently based in Gran Canaria, Spain with her husband and two children.
